The Essential Tool kit for SEO Success
Hi there and thank you for browsing through my essitential SEO toolkit - I hope you find it useful. In short my goal with this article is to discuss different websites, software and programs that you can use to boost your rankings across the various search engines.
Let us begin our journey.
Google Analytics
An absolute must - still seriously surprised when I speak to clients and they aren't using this bit of kit. It's pretty simple as well, basically you place a small snippet of code on your website and then you can log in at any time and view website user statistics. Which is vital for SEO. The key things I use Google Analytics for are:
- To find out page bounce rates
- To find out visitor sources - including seeing how many people come from Google
- To find our what users are using when browsing the website - i.e mobile phone, Chrome etc. etc.
- And I can do this all for a choosen date range
Google Webmaster Tools
Again, a must! Google's webmaster tools is used more to find flaws in your website and SEO weaknesses. It's a webmaster tool, not a tool for statistics like Google Analytics (GA).
The good thing about Webmaster tools is you can link it with GA and log individual keyword stats - including impressions, which is just perfect. An example of why you need this is..
Imagine if I'm ranking first for "Search Engine Optimisation", that being said, I'm getting 1000+ impressions a day and only 1 click. This would mean that probaly I'd need to be updating my META tags - as that's the only reason why you'd only have a 0.01% Click Through Rate (CTR).
Google webmaster tools would highlight the above problem. Other benefits/features include:
- The ability to see whether you have malware on your website
- The ability to see how many pages you have indexed on Google
- The ability to send Google your sitemap (XML)
The More Popular Subscription Services
Moz: Easily the most popular and the most "White Hat" seo website advice centre.
WebCEO: This is more affordable compared to Moz. But not as easy to use. It's got a great set of tools though, not the biggest community, but worth signing up to if you're on a budget but don't want to sacrifice features.
